Whois lookup: who’s behind this domain?
Type a domain to see its registrar, when it was registered and when it expires, its status, name servers and DNSSEC, its DNS records, and whether the website answers. Data comes live from the official registries (RDAP) and Google Public DNS.
What each result means
Registrar
The company the domain is registered with (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare…). Renewals and transfers happen there.
Dates
Creation, last change and expiry, as published by the registry. A domain that expires without renewal can be lost.
Status
EPP codes such as “client transfer prohibited”: locks that protect the domain against unwanted transfers or changes.
DNS and website
The A/AAAA records point to the server, MX to email, TXT holds verifications (SPF, Google…). The HTTPS check tells you if the site responds.
Whois questions, answered
Is this Whois lookup free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit beyond a reasonable number of lookups per minute to keep the service available for everyone.
What is the difference between Whois and RDAP?
RDAP is the official successor of Whois. It returns the same registration data in a structured format, straight from the registry of each extension. This tool uses RDAP.
Why is the owner’s name hidden?
Since privacy rules such as GDPR, most registries and registrars redact the owner’s personal data. We only show the organization and country when they are published, and never names, emails or phone numbers.
The tool says no registration was found. Is the domain available?
Probably, but not for sure: some domains are reserved or pending deletion. Check with a registrar before counting on it.
Why are there no registration details for some extensions?
A few country extensions (for example .es) do not publish RDAP yet. The DNS records and the website check still work for them.
